Cottrell CPO - Truck Traffic Hazard 11 June 2024
NOTE: I have gotten numerous comments on this video disparaging me as an idiot for complaining about how an articulated rig has to use the intersection to turn. I have deleted those and will continue to delete all such pointless rants.
I understand the realities of driving a big rig, and yes, one has to start left and swing wide to make the turn. The point of the video is that running 140 truck trips of this type (or 12 yard, 5 and 6-axle dump trucks) through this intersection daily for four years will change the safety profile of this road dramatically.
BACKGROUND:
The Portland Water Bureau has proposed and been given approval by the Multnomah County Planning Department to build a $2.1 billion water filtration facility in rural farmland 25 miles distant from the city core. This will require trucking out 1.2 million cubic yard of dirt, plus tcuking in all of the construction materials, etc.
The Cottrell CPO has fought this vigorously and the case is currently before the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals with a final determination due possibly in October.
In June of 2023, for our testimony to the Multnomah County Planning Department hearings officer, we created a video showing the dangers that truck traffic will pose when 70 truck trips per day are run through the Cottrell/Bluff intersection, which, on a daily bassis, only sees residential and farm traffic.
It was dimissed by PWB as being 'staged'. Huh!
Well, here is a video I captured this morning, 11 June 2024 showing one of the very hazards we had highlighted.

I made this sledge from a thrown-out piece of 1/2" UHMW and pressure-treated 2x6's about 20 years ago. It's still in service, and it makes my life here on our 3 acres much easier than wrestling a wheelbarrow or lifting junk up into a pull-behind cart/trailer. It is the ONLY way to move heavy rocks - just roll 'em in!

So . . . my brother sent me a can opener. Yup! That's how close we are as brothers - he sent me a can opener. And, since it just showed up from Amazon with no note, I wondered who it was from, or if it was a mistake somehow. Well, a couple days later he called and assked how I liked it. I confessed I hadnt even tried it (we don't open a lot of cans around here.) A week or two later I finally tr...

I've been working on the messed-up plumbing in our house for a coupla months now and I am finally getting it dialed. It's been so long because I have a lot of other stuff going on in my life, not just plumbing! From all the press about overdoses one would think that ivermectin is the new fentanyl (truly false reports, see: NHSSequoyah/posts/4192195714168045).

If you make 5 cuts the way you were doing, then on the fifth time cut off an 1/8 " break it half and see if the 2 pieces are the same thickness.

      As I note in the first comment on this page: Find a suit jacket that fits you the way YOU like and measure IT. The current rage in styles is a 'skinny' suit, which, to me, looks way too tight across the waist (leaving you with the BIG X cross your chest where the suit is straining against the button when closed.) Looks great on models who are perfectly fit and very young. That's not everybody's body shape, nor taste. As with all style decisions, your mileage WILL vary. See 'Kanye West' for details. : - )

Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Jesus

    • @charlescfap
      @charlescfap Рік тому

      Huh! I would guess they were used for making sand-cast (or similar proess) lettering that would be incised, not raised lettering, like for a bronze plaque on soemthing. Maybe incised lettering is more durable than raised lettering? Or collects less crud in the weather over time? That's a really interesting conundrum. I asked ChatGPT about raised or recessed lettering and got this: --- The decision to make the lettering on a bronze plaque raised or recessed depends on your personal preference and the intended use of the plaque. Here are some factors to consider: Raised lettering: > Gives the plaque a more classic and traditional look. > Provides a more tactile feel and can be easier to read from a distance. > May collect dust or debris in the recessed areas around the letters, which can make cleaning more difficult. Recessed lettering: > Provides a more modern and sleek appearance. > Is less likely to collect dirt or debris, making cleaning easier. > Can be harder to read from a distance, especially if the lighting is poor. Ultimately, the decision should be based on the specific design of the plaque and the intended use. If you're not sure which option to choose, you may want to consult with a professional in bronze casting or a designer to help you make an informed decision.

    How do you determine jacket size if no tag is present, for example 42 R 44R etc.?

    • @lifeworstgameever
      @lifeworstgameever Рік тому

      Its pit to pit measurement x 2 minus 2. For example you will measure 22 inches from armpit to armpit, than the equation will be: 22 x 2 - 2 = 42. So the jacket size is 42. I found this equation working best for current fit, in the past circumference was usually reduced by 4, which makes this example size 40, but this a too loose fit for most modern men. Regular, Short or Long depends on sleeve and back length. In general sleeves up to 24 inches are Short, 25 is Regular and 26 inches and more is Long. This can vary in smaller or bigger sizes, up or less 1 inch. Use Size tag only as a guideline, to start your search what size to look for and from there always use your jacket measurements. Don't rely on tag.

      The table locks in place place with a Spring loaded lock of some sort. Turning the handle Makes a solenoid release the Spring while you move it around. You can hear it buzzing as you move the table. When you release the handle, there is a loud wack, that is when when the Spring clamps both axes. It may be that the solenoid is old and worn it may be or it may be that One axis is very dirty. You will have to just tear it apart and figure it out.

    • @Ryan_Zell
      @Ryan_Zell 6 місяців тому

      @robusc4940 I see you do not understand what an Apostle is? What is an Apostle? He is "one who is sent." Peter and the other 11 Apostles were sent by Christ Himself. Paul was also sent by Christ Himself. Now all Apostles are Biships in the broad sense of the term. The ancient Church we call Catholic, has Christ as its head. Thus, the Church, who has the full authority of Christ to speak and act as if Christ Himself is speaking and acting, sends out others. These are Bishops of the Church called Catholic. So Peter and Paul are both Apostles. Paul is not one of the original 12 (Mathias, not Judas), Christ called Apostles. But in the broad sense Paul and Barnabus are both Apostles. Barnabus was the Bishop of Cyprus and Paul was a Bishop for the incoming Gentiles, even though it was Peter who brought in the first Gentiles. Blessings and I hope this clears up any misconceptions you have about Peter and Paul.
